St. Stephen's Cathedral within reach from your hotel
Vienna landmark with a view
With its high church towers, St. Stephen's Cathedral can be seen from many parts of Vienna. Conversely, its towers offer a wonderful view of the city directly from the heart of Vienna. Discover your Hotel Am Parkring, which is only a 5-minute walk from Vienna's most important landmark.
For a long time the tallest building in Europe
The majestic south tower of St. Stephen's Cathedral rises 136.4 metres into the sky. The Viennese have always been very proud of their "Steffl" and so, until the end of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, no church tower in Europe was allowed to tower above the venerable St. Stephen's Cathedral.
The South Tower - The Steffl
From the south tower, once the highest church tower in Europe, you have a wonderful view over the whole city. First, you have to climb the 343 steps that lead to the Türmerstube. But the view makes up for all the effort.
The North Tower of St. Stephen's Cathedral
Those who want to "climb" the north tower can do so comfortably. The "Eagle Tower", named after its crown, the imperial double-headed eagle, is 68.3 metres high. A lift takes you comfortably to the viewing platform at a height of about 50 metres. From here you also have a beautiful view over the rooftops of Vienna. Some myths say that the tower was never completed and of course, as is so often the case, the devil had a hand in it.
